Our goal is to redefine what being a “successful” band means in the New Music Industry, and using the Internet and social media to put our music in people’s hands whether or not they’re in the same hemisphere we are. The world is a smaller place than it used to be, and the “old ways” of promoting your band simply don’t matter to us.

Bio

The Band Royale was born out of love for big guitar riffs, an appreciation for the finer things, and a mutual obsession with science fiction. And they are able to sneak these things into their sound without scaring off the opposite sex. Brothers Joel, Nate, and Zach Bauman grew up in the working-class town of Kalamazoo, MI, each with an immediate passion for music. At an early age, their shared obsessions with music, sports, and culture made the pursuit of playing in a band together an obvious choice. Once they moved to Chicago, they teamed up with Louisville, KY native Marc Najjar to make the heaviest music they could that would inspire some serious baby-making.

Riffstory Lesson: Man Plays 100 Bass Lines From Mingus to Metallica, Nirvana and Beyond

100 famous bass riffs and drum beats in one take - watch

A few years back, the Chicago Music Exchange traced the legacy of guitar riffs in a video of Alex Chadwick playing 100 classic riffs in one take. While the guitar riff is probably the first thing most fans think of when considering memorable music, guitarists aren't the only ones who have left their indelible mark on recording history.

Royale seemingly has everything going for it, but is that enough?

Can a band be too good? That question comes to mind when looking at the prospects for Royale. Comprising brothers Joel, Nathan and Zach Bauman and Marc Najjar, Royale is a band that has nearly everything going for it, and it's not afraid to share it.

Our current issue is full of new artists we believe deserve a spin, but lucky for you, we're here to give you the inside tip on which ones you should jam first. Turn to page 98 for an intro to the Chicago-based Rock outfit, Royale.

Royale share new song "Close to the Vest" - listen

Chicago indie rock outfit Royale will release their debut album, ...As Long As The Money Lasted , on January 1st, 2015. To build the anticipation, the band has opted to release a new song each month until the album's release. Last month we saw the band show off its signature "yacht metal" style with the track "Out of Season".

Royale premiere new songs "Robots With Guns" and "Robots II" - listen

Chicago's Royale bill its debut, ...As Long As The Money Lasted , as "a sci-fi yacht metal record." While that label sounds ridiculous, the four-piece proved it could seamlessly blend the breezy "dad rock" vibes of Steely Dan with thrashing guitar riffs on singles like "Out of Season" and "Close to the Vest".

Royale announces B-sides compilation, shares new song "Under Control" - listen

Chicago's sci-fi-yacht-metal outfit Royale have had a whirlwind of a year - and it's only June. On New Year's Day, they released their debut album, ...As Long As The Money Lasted . The following months, however, saw unforeseeable changes in the life of each band member as they began work on a sophomore effort.

Introducing Royale from Outer Space - Pop 'stache

"I don't know why people make fun of [Steely Dan]. That shit's smart, it's good..." says guitarist and vocalist Joel Bauman of Chicago band Royale, which he formed with his brother Nate. Bassist Marc Najjar chimes in, "People make fun of what they don't understand."

REVIEW: Royale - "Royale" (EP)

Chicago trio Royale recently put out their debut EP on Soundcloud, and I finally had the chance to check it out. Clocking in at just 11 minutes total, I would definitely advise you to do the same. The release features just three songs, each getting slightly heavier as they go on.

Pop 'stache Presents: Royale - "Robots" | Chicago Band

It's not every day that we stumble onto talent that is yet to be tainted by the criticism of the internet masses. Royale is one of those bands and we're proud to introduce them to you via the very first Pop 'stache Presents live session.

Royale - 1981

Royale call their style Progressive Sci-Fi Yacht Metal, and their debut EP is coming out December 19th. For their latest video, they linked up with a great animator who's been doing videos in the past for Flying Lotus and the result is dope!

AUDIO: Royale - "Inland Sea"

Chicago's Royale is back, with some brand new music that is as catchy as ever. "Inland Sea" starts off softer, but builds up to a bang. This is a band that knows how to bring you into a song. While it feels like they're just jamming their way through this one, it's all one big...
